Program Overview


Introduction to the Cinema Studies Programme

The Cinema Studies programme at the University of Canterbury explores a wide range of films and directors, from the era of silent film to contemporary world cinema. This programme can be studied as a major and minor in a BA degree and at postgraduate level.


Study Options

  • Cinema Studies courses explore a wide range of films and directors from the era of silent film and the advent of sound, the heyday of Hollywood and international art cinema, and the globalization of film and contemporary world cinema.
