  • What drives and motivates you? Xin's purpose is to remove barriers for all learners and to help them thrive. They believe education should be empowering and that mental health and wellbeing should be an essential part of it.
  • How do you balance your full-time job with your study? Xin manages to balance their full-time job with study by doing a lot of readings and assignments in the evenings or on weekends.
  • What do you like about living in Christchurch? Xin likes Christchurch because it is a beautiful city with a perfect combination of history, modernity, and nature. It is vibrant, diverse, and welcoming, with a strong Asian community.
  • How did you feel returning to study? At the beginning, Xin had concerns and uncertainties about returning to learning and adapting to the university environment. However, they found a lot of support from the university community and lecturers, and now they are very confident.
  • What are your lecturers like? Xin's lecturers are fantastic, very experienced, and knowledgeable. They are helping Xin adopt different teaching strategies to adapt to different learners.
  • Have you had any unique opportunities as a postgraduate student at UC? Xin has been privileged to present at many different conferences around the world, sharing their knowledge and experience with people who have the same interests and passions.
  • How do you maintain a good work-life balance? Xin looks after their wellbeing by connecting with nature. They love going hiking, especially out at Godley Head, which helps them relax, unwind, and let go of any stress.
  • What do you want to do after completing your programme? Xin wants to keep growing, both as a practitioner and as someone who supports change in the education space. They hope to contribute to improving equity and inclusion in higher education support systems.
