Program Overview
Introduction to the Thrive Programme
The Thrive Programme is designed to help new international students develop the skills needed to succeed throughout their studies and beyond at UC Business School.
Why Thrive Matters
Starting studies at UC Business School can be exciting, but adjusting to a new education system can take time. Many international students feel confident and ready when they arrive, yet are surprised by how different expectations can be in New Zealand. The Thrive Programme is designed to help students understand these expectations early and develop relevant key skills, so they can study with confidence from the start.
What Thrive Helps With
Through a series of interactive workshops, Thrive supports students to:
- Understand what is expected in assignments
- Avoid common academic integrity issues before they happen
- Develop critical thinking skills and apply them
- Start thinking about career readiness while they study
These are areas where many students only seek help after encountering difficulties. Thrive helps students build these skills proactively.
Additional Support
Thrive also supports students' wider student journey, providing opportunities to:
- Connect with other international students
- Learn from experienced staff and external professional guest speakers
- Explore how studies link to future career pathways
- Build confidence navigating university life in New Zealand
