About Program
Program Overview
Introduction to the Tradenomi (AMK) Program in Business
The Tradenomi (AMK) program in Business is a multidisciplinary implementation that commences in the spring semester of 2026. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in business, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their future careers.
Program Structure and Schedule
- The program begins with orientation days on January 8-9, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) main campus, located at Kuntokatu 3, Tampere.
- Attendance during these orientation days is mandatory for all students who have accepted their study place and registered for attendance.
- The program's contact days are typically held once a month on Thursdays and Fridays. For the spring semester of 2026, these days are scheduled for January 8-9, February 5-6, March 12-13, April 9-10, and May 7-8.
- In addition to contact days, online teaching may be conducted on weekday evenings after 5:00 PM.
- Students are expected to allocate time for independent and small-group study outside of scheduled classes.
Teaching Methods and Assessment
- The program combines face-to-face teaching, online learning, individual assignments, team projects, and web-based studies.
- Assessments are based on assignments, exams, group performances, self-assessment, and peer review.
- Each student is assigned a teacher tutor, who guides their studies and provides support when needed. For this program, the teacher tutor is Hanna Moisio.
Study Materials and Equipment
- Students are required to have a laptop for their studies.
- For online teaching, a webcam and headphones are also necessary.
- Many software programs used in the studies can be installed for free on personal computers or accessed online without installation.
- The Tampere University library services are available to students, offering a wide range of books and digital resources. Most required textbooks for courses are available through the library, either in print or as e-books.
Recognition of Prior Learning
- Students can apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) for previous higher education studies or competencies acquired through work experience or other means.
- The process for applying for RPL is explained during the orientation days.
- Students who have completed equivalent studies elsewhere can compare the content and scope of those studies with the curriculum of the Tradenomi (AMK) program to identify potential RPL opportunities.
Language Proficiency Tests
- All students starting their degree studies at TAMK are required to take language proficiency tests in English and Swedish at the beginning of their studies.
- These tests provide information about the student's language proficiency level and recommendations for how to proceed with language studies.
Support Services
- Teacher tutors and study counselors are available to support students throughout their studies.
- The university's IT services provide assistance with any technical issues related to studies.
- Library services offer support for information retrieval and academic skills development.
