Program Overview


Introduction to the Program

The Engineering Management Master's program at Southwest Jiaotong University was formally established in 2012. In 2020, the national engineering professional degree categories underwent adjustments, and the Engineering Management Master's program was adjusted to four recruitment fields: Engineering Management, Project Management, Industrial Engineering and Management, and Logistics Engineering and Management. The program has undergone several assessments and has been recognized for its quality.


Program Overview

The program aims to cultivate high-level, application-oriented, and innovative engineering management talents with a strong foundation in engineering technology and economic management theory. The program has a "three integrations" training model, which emphasizes the integration of engineering, management, and innovation.


Program Features

The program is designed to strengthen the foundation, broaden professional knowledge, and cultivate innovative thinking and international professional competence. The program has established an innovative talent training mode, which includes a series of reforms and innovations in talent training, such as teacher selection and training, curriculum setting, teaching content, and practice links.


Training Objectives

The program has different training objectives for different fields:


  • Engineering Management (Non-Full-Time): to cultivate high-level, application-oriented, and innovative engineering management talents with a strong foundation in engineering technology and economic management theory.
  • Project Management (Non-Full-Time): to cultivate high-level, complex project management talents with a strong foundation in project management methodology and international vision.
  • Industrial Engineering and Management (Full-Time): to cultivate high-level, complex engineering management talents with a strong foundation in planning, design, quantitative analysis, and evaluation.

Curriculum Setting

The program implements a credit system, and students must pass the school-organized course exams and training links to obtain credits. The curriculum includes:

Duration and Study Mode

  • Non-Full-Time Engineering Management (Engineering Management, Project Management): 3 years, with a maximum study period of 5 years.
  • Full-Time Engineering Management (Industrial Engineering and Management): 3 years, with a maximum study period of 4 years.
  • Study Mode:
    • Non-Full-Time: weekends (generally Saturdays and Sundays)
    • Full-Time: weekdays (Monday to Friday)

Degree Awarding

Students who complete the required credits and pass the thesis defense will be awarded the Master's degree in Engineering Management from Southwest Jiaotong University.
