Introduction to the 2023 University of Cambridge Summer Academic Program
The University of Cambridge, ranked second in the 2023 QS World University Rankings, is offering a summer academic program designed to enhance students' academic and research abilities. This program is tailored to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience, leveraging the university's esteemed faculty and innovative Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach.
Program Overview
- The program is divided into two stages, totaling 68 hours of instruction.
- Stage 1: July 24 - August 3, featuring online courses and interactive pre-study sessions.
- Stage 2: August 7 - August 20, consisting of on-campus study at the University of Cambridge.
- Successful completion of the program requirements will result in the awarding of a certificate of completion, a transcript, and a letter of recommendation for outstanding students.
Course Selection
The program offers a variety of courses across different disciplines, including:
- Science and Engineering: Deep learning and neural networks, advanced machine learning and machine intelligence, nanotechnology and new materials, sustainable energy and battery technology.
- Business and Finance: Big data and financial technology, business analysis and innovation, investment and quantitative finance.
- Humanities and Arts: Humanities, arts, and digital creativity, sociology, and international relations.
Selection Requirements
To be eligible for the program, applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students at the home university, aged 18 or above, with good physical and mental health, and the ability to live and study independently overseas.
- Possess good English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL score of 80.
- Demonstrate excellent academic performance and a strong foundation in their major.
- Exhibit a good team spirit, adhere to the rules and regulations of both universities, and follow the program's arrangements.
- Come from families with a certain level of economic stability to cover all expenses during the program.
Program Fees
- The program fee is Ł3,950 per person, covering online and offline course fees, materials, accommodation at the University of Cambridge for 13 nights, meal fees, cultural activity fees, and domestic transportation in the UK.
- The fee does not include international airfare, visa application fees, meal fees during free activities, and personal expenses.
- Excellent students who complete the program may be eligible for a subsidy of 5,000 CNY from the home university, with specific requirements and application procedures to be announced in the autumn semester.
- Some colleges or supervisors may provide additional funding for students participating in international exchange programs.
Application Procedure
- By May 31, students must log in to the university's foreign affairs management system to complete the internal review.
- By May 31, students must register for the program.
- Students who receive an admission letter must arrange their own passport, visa, and international air ticket.
- Before officially departing, students must complete the exit registration on the foreign affairs management system, a prerequisite for applying for academic credits and university funding subsidies.
Program Details
The program is accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and supports students' academic abilities and personal competitiveness for further studies or job applications. With over 13 years of operation, more than 20% of program participants have successfully applied to renowned universities such as Oxbridge, G5, or Ivy League schools.
