Introduction to the Masters Program at IIT Kharagpur

The Masters Program at IIT Kharagpur welcomes foreign students to apply for its M.Tech/Masters programs in various disciplines, including Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture & Regional Planning, Humanities & Social Sciences, Rural Development, Law, Management, and Medicine.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign students applying to the program should have excellent schooling and undergraduate academic records. Shortlisted students are required to appear for a video interview. However, a valid GATE score may substitute for the video interview for admission into M.Tech programs, and a valid JAM score may substitute for the video interview for 2-yr M.Sc. admission.

Admission Process

The Department/ School/ Centre may put additional requirements for admission. The application process involves registering through the application portal, filling up the application form, and making a payment of the application fee.

Fee Structure

The tuition fee structure for international students for the Master's program is as follows:

• For SAARC nationals:
  • Master's Program (M.Tech, 2-yr MSc, MMST, MCP): 10,000 INR per year
  • Professional Courses:
    • MBA: 2,00,000 INR per year
    • LL.M: 1,40,000 INR per year
    • MHRM: 1,50,000 INR per year
• For non-SAARC nationals:
  • Master's Program (M.Tech, 2-yr MSc, MMST, MCP): 50,000 INR per year
  • Professional Courses:
    • MBA: 3,00,000 INR per year
    • LL.M: 2,00,000 INR per year
    • MHRM: 2,25,000 INR per year

Other Fees

An approximate break-up of other fees that need to be paid in addition to the tuition fees is as follows:

• Registration related: 7,200 INR (one-time, at the time of admission)
• Caution money deposits: 6,000 INR (per semester)
• Hall establishment charges: 16,640 INR (per semester)
• Hall Budget: 1,000 INR (at the time of admission)
• Hostel Overhead Charges: 830 INR (per semester)
• Mess charge: 14,000 INR (per semester)
• Insurance Premium: 2,500 INR (per year)
• Student Brotherhood Fund: 200 INR (per year)
