Introduction to the Asoke Deysarkar International Program (ADSIP)
The Asoke Deysarkar International Program (ADSIP) is a full scholarship program launched by IIT Kharagpur in 2019, funded by distinguished alumnus Dr. Asoke Deysarkar. This program is designed for SAARC nationals to study at IIT Kharagpur.
Program Details
- The program allows full-time students and research scholars from SAARC nations to visit IIT Kharagpur during summer/winter breaks or for an entire semester.
- Participants can attend courses and/or work on research projects guided by IIT Kharagpur faculty members.
- Each application undergoes a rigorous selection process, and successful candidates receive scholarships covering tuition fees, airfare, living expenses, and medical insurance.
- The scholarship is open to both full-time degree-seeking students and short-term visitors from SAARC countries.
About the Donor
Asoke Kumar Deysarkar
Asoke K. Deysarkar is a successful entrepreneur known for his leadership and technical expertise, particularly in Hydraulic Fracturing, Fluid Rheology, Refining, and Consumer Products. He completed his Master's degree and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester (Salford) in the UK. Dr. Deysarkar also holds an MBA from the University of Houston and has worked as a researcher at the University of Waterloo. He started his career as a Senior Project Engineer at Dresser Industries and later served as a Product Manager at Pennzoil. In 2002, Dr. Deysarkar founded his own company, "Products for People," in Houston, which formulated products for the automotive after-market. He developed another line of products based on GUAR, used as a thickener for water in the fracturing of oil/gas wells. The business is now operated under the umbrella of PfP Industries, headquartered in Houston, Texas (USA), with branches in various locations around the United States. Dr. Deysarkar is the CEO and Chairman of the group. He has built a successful $1.5 billion conglomerate from scratch in the oil and gas sector and has adopted a vision of creating a new crop of professionals who will be game-changers in that industry. Dr. Deysarkar received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2016 from IIT Kharagpur and is a committed patron of the arts and culture in Houston.
