Session 8: Genetic Counseling
Overview
This course will discuss the construction of family pedigrees, factors influencing phenotype and inheritance patterns, and informed decision-making in genetic counseling.

Learning Objectives
Participants who engage in this education intervention will be able to:
- Construct a family pedigree.
- Examine factors that influence phenotype and inheritance pattern.
- Summarize the elements of informed decision-making in genetic counseling.
Program
This module is presented with a pre-recorded PowerPoint presentation and sound. An audio lecture is given using visual key points listed on the PowerPoint presentation. Following the presentation, learners will be asked quiz questions to test retainment of knowledge gained in the presentation. Learners are able to complete the module at their own pace.

- Jenny Geurts, MS, CGC is the Genetic Counseling Program Director in the Institute for Health & Equity at MCW. She has been practicing cancer genetic counseling over the past 14+ years with an emphasis in pancreatic and endocrine disease. She also serves as the Associate Director of Genetic Counseling for the Genomic Sciences & Precision Medicine Center.
