Program Overview

University Program Information

The Industrial Design Centre (IDC) at IIT Bombay offers a well-established Master of Design degree (M.Des) programme in various fields, including Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Animation Design, Interaction Design, and Mobility and Vehicle Design, as well as a Ph.D. programme in Design.


BDes Program

The B.Des program at IDC, IIT Bombay, is a four-year, eight-semester program that commenced in 2015. Additionally, a five-year, ten-semester dual degree B.Des + M.Des program is also available, with the option to pursue the dual degree available only at the end of the 3rd year. Both programs are credit-based, allowing students to progress at their own pace, with a minimum level of performance required for satisfactory progress. The medium of instruction is English.

Eligibility and Program Details

Students admitted to the B.Des program are not eligible for branch change to any other undergraduate programs offered by IIT Bombay at any time during the entire duration of the program. The programs are designed to provide a conducive environment for research, academics, and collaborative projects, supported by excellent research facilities, technical expertise, and academic diversity of IIT Bombay.
