Introduction to LSO Summer School 2025

The Large Scale Optimization (LSO) Summer School 2025 is a comprehensive program designed to cover advanced topics in integer, linear, and nonlinear optimization. The school will feature sessions on theory, modeling, applications, and computing, targeting PhD students, post-graduate students, faculty, and industry professionals interested in advanced topics in this area.

Program Overview

The LSO Summer School 2025 will feature a mix of lectures, hands-on sessions, and panel discussions focused on various aspects of optimization methods. The detailed schedule and program information will be announced closer to the event date.


Program Schedule

The program will take place from June 16-21, 2025. Online pre-school sessions will be conducted prior to the main event to help participants refresh foundational concepts and gain an introductory overview of the topics to be covered.


Online Pre-School Sessions

The pre-school sessions will take place from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM and will cover the following topics:

  2. Session 2: June 07, 2025 - Computational Optimization - I: Installing CPLEX by Guneshwar Anand, IIM Visakhapatnam
  3. Session 3: June 08, 2025 - Computational Optimization - II: Calling CPLEX from C/C++ programs by Guneshwar Anand, IIM Visakhapatnam
  4. Session 4: June 09, 2025 - Theoretical Foundations of the Simplex Algorithm by Shubham Keshri, IIT Kanpur
  5. Session 5: June 10, 2025 - Review of Simplex Method and Interpreting the Simplex Tableau by Prof Yogesh Agarwal, IIM Lucknow (Retd)

Registration includes participation in all sessions, course materials, and refreshments during the program. It does not include accommodation, travel, lunch, or dinner.

Venue

The LSO Summer School 2025 will be held at the IIT Bombay campus in Powai, Mumbai. The exact venue is Classroom LH 101, Lecture Hall Complex (LHC), IIT Bombay Campus.


Accommodation

Shared rooms in hostels are available from June 15th to June 22nd at Rs 300 per night (excluding GST). Guest house accommodations on campus are available for speakers and other attendees. Nearby hotels are also available for attendees seeking alternative accommodation.


How to Reach

The IIT Bombay campus is well-connected by road network and easily accessible from all parts of Mumbai. The nearest airport is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), approximately 8 km from the campus. The nearest train stations are Kanjurmarg (5 km) and Vikhroli (7 km) on the Central line.
