Module information
The course consists of the following core modules:
Creative Entrepreneurial Approaches
This module reflects the interdisciplinary, collaborative, and entrepreneurial nature of music sector working practices. Students will critically examine current music sector practices, work on real-life projects, and develop a personalised entrepreneurial portfolio.
Music Business Practice
This module is designed to enhance students' processes and skills in related areas, such as music supervision for media projects or release strategy on the record label, Denizen.
Research Project
This module enables students to collaborate with other creative cohorts and formulate life-long robust research practices. Students will learn essential skills to investigate and synthesise information, develop informed conclusions, and deliver a large research project.
How you're taught
Studying an online course with the Nottingham School of Art & Design means having full flexibility when it comes to the environment. The main delivery platforms used are Microsoft Teams, Bebop, and the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) NOW.
Entry requirements
UK students
- A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree or an appropriate equivalent from a recognised British or overseas institution in a related subject.
- Previous related experience and a passion for putting together high-quality compositions.
- Non-standard applicants with at least three years' industry experience are also welcome to apply.
International students
- A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree or an appropriate equivalent from a recognised British or overseas institution in a related subject.
- Previous related experience and a passion for putting together high-quality compositions.
- English language equivalent to IELTS 6.5.

Careers and employability
The course provides personalised support, one-on-one coaching, and industry-specific advice as part of the Employability Promise. At least eight weeks of assessed work-like experience are embedded into the course, giving students the opportunity to apply their learning in real-world scenarios.

Although this course is available for online delivery, students can access world-class facilities, including a bespoke-built console, SSL ORIGIN consoles, and audio monitoring provided by PMC and Focusrite Rednet interfaces. Metronome London is a purpose-built multi-discipline events and production space.
