The Museums Today for 15 17 Year Olds course is designed for those interested in social and cultural history and how it is being curated in museums and galleries today. This course provides a unique opportunity for students to explore the world of museums and galleries, learn from experienced tutors, and develop their critical thinking and idea development skills.

What You'll Study

On this course, you will:

• Examine local and regional history and contemporary cultures
• Visit important buildings and see their collections
• Learn about the museum sector and its funding
• Examine how the interpretation of material culture can affect the artefact on display
• Create a project and proposal that responds to new ways of curating

Campus and Facilities

You will be studying in the School of Social Sciences on the City Campus, with access to modern teaching spaces, group study environments, and the university library.

Entry Requirements

• Entry requirement: You should have an enthusiasm for history and an interest in developing your critical thinking and idea development skills.
• Age requirement: You must be 15, 16, or 17 years old at the time of the course.

Fees and Funding

• The fee for this course is Ł545.
• Payment is due at the time of booking.
• Accommodation can be booked separately for Ł266 per week.

Please bring with you to the first session:

• Notepad and pen
• Camera (your phone is fine)
• Good shoes, as there will be plenty of walking and off-site activities

This course can count as your Gold DofE Residential Award and is an amazing opportunity to make new friends and memories. To qualify, you must book both the course and accommodation on campus and attend the social events planned on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
