Introduction to the Ordinary Surgery Program (Specialist Doctor 2018 Edition)

The Ordinary Surgery program, also known as Basic Surgery, is the foundation of all clinical surgical specialties. It primarily focuses on abdominal diseases, particularly those of the digestive system, as well as thyroid, breast, abdominal wall, and vascular diseases, with surgical operations being the most important treatment method.

Program Overview

• The program is designed for specialist doctors and lasts for 3 years.
• Trainee doctors must complete the standardized residency training in surgery before entering this program.
• Modern ordinary surgery has begun to branch out into sub-specialties such as colorectal surgery, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, endocrine surgery, vascular surgery, and abdominal wall surgery.

Training Objectives

The objectives of the Ordinary Surgery specialist doctor training program are to equip trainee doctors with the necessary moral and humanistic qualities, as well as a systematic understanding of the medical basics and clinical theories related to ordinary surgery. Upon completion, trainees should be able to:

• Independently diagnose and treat common ordinary surgery diseases.
