Program Overview


Middle Childhood Physics 7-9 (Adv Cert)

Overview

The middle childhood extension program builds on previous coursework in childhood education and leads to certification in teaching physics for grades 79. The program is open to persons who are completing the M.S.T. in childhood education or who already possess initial/professional certification in childhood education or provisional/permanent certification in elementary education (Pre-K6).


Admissions

Admissions to this program are currently on hold for the application cycle. Program faculty are in the process of redesigning this program; the present content refers to the version of the program that is on hold. This content will be updated when the program's redesign is complete. In addition to the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School of Education, applicants must:


  • Provide evidence of teacher certification in childhood or elementary education, or concurrent pursuit of one of Fordham's childhood education degree programs; and
  • Complete or have completed 30 credits or more in a physics major or concentration, including coursework in these areas: mathematics, electricity, waves, optics, atomic and nuclear physics, radioactivity, and quantum mechanics.
