Urban Plunge Program

The Urban Plunge is a three-day pre-orientation program designed for incoming students who are critical thinkers and share a deep commitment to social justice advocacy.

Program Details

• The program takes place from Thursday, August 21, to Saturday, August 23, 2025.
• It provides students with an opportunity to explore New York City's neighborhoods through a lens of community, diversity, and engagement.
• Students learn about unequal access to opportunities in the context of the city's history and engage with local social justice advocates.
• The program emphasizes a complete integration of reflection, expression, and action, encouraging students to cultivate "bothered excellence" and pursue the truth.

Program Objectives

• To explore New York City's neighborhoods and understand community, diversity, and engagement.
• To learn about unequal access to opportunities and the city's history.
• To engage with local social justice advocates and their initiatives.
• To encourage students to address systemic injustices and highlight the beauty that coexists despite them.

Eligibility

• Admitted students and high school seniors applying to Fordham are welcome to participate.
• Interested students can sign an interest form, and the program will reach out to them in June before applications open.
