Introduction to the Owl-to-Owl Volunteer Tutoring Program

The Owl-to-Owl Volunteer Tutoring program at Florida Atlantic University is designed to provide students with a wide range of academic course support. This program offers students the opportunity to gain valuable experience while assisting their peers.


Benefits of Becoming an OtO Volunteer Tutor

  • Earn 35+ volunteer hours, which are recorded on transcripts for future employers, professional, or graduate schools.
    • 22 tutoring hours (minimum)
    • 2 hours of shadowing
    • 5 hours of beginning-of-semester training
    • 1 hour of self-reflection and supervisory evaluation
    • 10 hours of semester training/workshops
    • 1 end-of-semester meeting

OtO Volunteer Tutor Requirements

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • A- or better in the course(s) to be tutored. Note: The OtO tutoring program does not offer support in math or writing-intensive courses.
  • Commitment for the entire semester
  • Attendance at all training sessions (training counts towards volunteer hours)
  • Minimum of 2 hours of tutoring per week, adhering to scheduled hours for the semester
