System Design and Operation: Bio-Inspired Structures for Tidal Energy Harvesting

This project, led by Oscar Curet, Ph.D., focuses on developing a bio-inspired structure for harvesting tidal stream energy. The device consists of one or more oscillating cylinders and an electric generator. The project aims to characterize energy harvested at different arrangements, including staggered and tandem configurations.

About the Institute

The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute engages with the community through the Ocean Discovery Visitors Center and the Ocean Science Lecture Series. The institute's research and outreach programs translate marine science to provide solutions that improve economies and quality of life for coastal communities.
