Program Overview


Introduction to the Master's Programs

The Master of Science (M.S.) degree programs in Environmental Science and Marine Science and Oceanography at Florida Atlantic University offer unique specializations across a range of disciplines. These interdisciplinary programs provide students with immersive experiences, from scientific diving to study threatened coral species, to driving conservation efforts for endangered sea turtles.


Program Structure

The M.S. in Marine Science and Oceanography is available in both thesis and non-thesis tracks. Students select a specialization in their area of interest and work with faculty and researchers across Florida Atlantic's numerous campuses in South Florida. The programs are part of the new School of Environmental, Coastal, and Ocean Sustainability, a partnership between the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute.
