The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of geomatics and remote sensing, enabling them to acquire, store, process, analyze, and interpret geospatial data.

Program Structure

The program consists of 27 to 30 credits of optional courses, including:

  • GMQ100: Mathematics of the geomatician (3 credits)
  • GMQ107: Drones and environmental applications (3 credits)
  • GMQ110: Geomatics, natural resources and territory (3 credits)
  • GMQ157: Digital cartography (3 credits)
  • GMQ210: Geoinformatics I (3 credits)
  • GMQ225: Geographic information systems (3 credits)
  • GMQ230: Introduction to geospatial database management systems (3 credits)
  • GMQ250: Principles of remote sensing (4 credits)
  • GMQ304: Image processing (4 credits)
  • GMQ330: Geopositioning (3 credits)
  • GMQ404: Visual analysis of images and stereorestitution (3 credits)
  • GMQ405: Modeling and spatial analysis (4 credits)
  • GMQ432: Tutorial course in geomatics (3 credits)
  • GMQ450: Geomatics on the Internet (3 credits)
  • GMQ580: Geoinformatics II (3 credits)
  • GMQ604: Advanced remote sensing (3 credits)
  • IGE100: Design and operation of databases (3 credits)

Admission and Requirements

Admission to the program is offered in the fall and winter semesters. The program is available in a regular, part-time format at the Sherbrooke campus. To be eligible, students must meet the general admission requirements for undergraduate programs at the Université de Sherbrooke. Additionally, students must demonstrate a strong proficiency in French, with a minimum level of B2 (400/699) in all four language skills (oral comprehension, written comprehension, oral production, and written production).

Why Choose This Program

The Certificate in Geomatics and Remote Sensing offers students the opportunity to acquire or update their knowledge in geomatics, covering essential concepts and techniques for acquiring, storing, processing, analyzing, and interpreting geospatial data. The program allows students to personalize their academic path by selecting courses from a wide range of options. It is also part of the concentrations Territorial Dynamics (B. Sc.) and Scientific Foundations and Practices (B.Sc.) offered at the Université de Sherbrooke.

##Research and Environment The Department of Applied Geomatics is recognized for its stimulating and convivial learning environment, where students study the environment using new information technologies. The department is also known for its diverse expertise and the reputation of its researchers.
