Program Overview
Modeling using SWMM5 hydraulics software
Presentation
This training is offered by the Professional Development Center of the Faculty of Engineering. SWMM 5.1 (Storm Water Management Model version 5.1) is rain-runoff modeling software. It can be used to model the quantity and quality of runoff for a one-off or long-term event, mainly in urban areas.
Context
It was developed by the American agency EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). It can be downloaded and used for free. Its interface and the way of editing objects are similar to those of the EPANET software, also developed by the EPA.
Training Targets/Objectives
- Be able to use the SWMM 5 rainwater or unitary sanitation network modeling software for the diagnosis and sizing of networks.
- Know how to model an urban sanitation network and its possible future developments and know the stages and limits of such modeling.
- Be able to simulate the operation of an urban sanitation network by using rainwater management structures to reduce the flow of runoff reaching the sanitation pipes.
Target audience
This workshop is an introduction to the SWMM5 software. It is particularly aimed at engineers working in the field of surface water drainage and wishing to acquire basic notions of using the SWMM5 software.
Access condition
- General knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics.
Content
Content
- 4 sessions of 2.5 hours and practical work outside the course (training certificate totaling 15 hours)
