Program Overview
Master of Business Administration
The JBS online Master of Business Administration (MBA) is fully online and offers electives to suit your area of expertise. The elective streams include subjects in Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation, Leadership, Healthcare Management, and Digital Transformation. The initial focus of this MBA will fall on finding your purpose. You will then learn the skills and requirements to be a master in your field, with a solid understanding of national and international trends.
Program Structure
- The program is split over two years.
- Two MBA modules (a 5-credit module and a 10-credit module) will run concurrently over a seven-week period.
- The MBA programme consists of core modules, three elective modules, and a capstone project which is an independent study module.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for the MBA, you need to meet the requirements listed below:
- Honours Degree in a relevant field (NQF Level 8) with an overall average of 60%
- OR PGDip in Management, PGDip in Business Management, PGDip in Business Administration, or related NQF Level 8 qualifications with an overall average of 60%
- OR A cognate Bachelor's Degree equivalent at NQF level 8
- AND Proof of English language proficiency (for students who have not studied at the tertiary level in English)
- AND A minimum of four years of work experience at an appropriate level, of which a minimum of two years' managerial experience, and a letter from your employer to confirm managerial experience.
Admission Requirements for International Students
- Applicants who hold a foreign qualification need to send their qualifications to the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) for evaluation before applying for the MBA programme.
- We require the SAQA certificate to verify the NQF level of your qualification.
Accreditation
The MBA is accredited nationally by the Council for Higher Education and has the backing of the internationally recognised University of Johannesburg. The Johannesburg Business School (JBS) is working towards aligning the MBA with the requirements of the international accrediting agencies.
