Program Overview

UJ Arts Academy Auditions

The UJ Arts Academy and UJ productions hold auditions simultaneously. Students may be selected for either a production or acting classes, but not both. Classes and rehearsals are presented on a weekly basis.

Stand-up Comedy Classes

Stand-up Comedy classes are run as a Comedy boot camp, facilitated by professional comedians with extensive industry experience. The boot camp is structured to allow participants to express their creativity, share their work within the group, and improve their performance and writing skills. At the end of the year, comedians will perform in a showcase, demonstrating their learning throughout the year.

Audition Requirements

For the audition, prepare a 2-minute skit and come with an open mind and a readiness to showcase your comedic talent.

UJ Arts Centre and Gallery

The UJ Arts Centre and Gallery are located at the UJ Kingsway Campus, on the corner of Kingsway Avenue and University Road, Auckland Park.

UJ Arts Gallery Hours

The gallery is open weekdays from 9:00 to 15:30 and is closed on weekends and public holidays.
