Program Overview
Federal Work Study Program
The Federal Work Study (FWS) program provides funds for part-time employment to help eligible students finance the costs of postsecondary education.
Program Overview
FWS funds are not applied to the student account. Instead, funds must be earned through employment in an eligible FWS position within the university and are paid through direct deposit based on hours worked.
Eligibility
A current FWS Award offer is required to apply for all FWS positions. An award does not guarantee a position on campus, but instead opens an additional pool of positions available to students on campus. Eligibility is determined by the following factors:
- Financial need as determined through the completed FAFSA
- Other factors, as determined by the Financial Aid office
Award Notification
Eligible students who filed a FAFSA form for financial aid are given an FWS amount to accept or decline from the Office of Financial Aid. If a student is awarded FWS, the award will be listed in their Financial Aid Package.
Program Administration
The Center for Career and Leadership Development partners with all campus departments for FWS allocations. Each position is posted and applicants are recruited and hired directly by the worksite.
Off-Campus FWS Internship Program
Eligible students may also participate in the Off-Campus FWS Internship Program. To determine eligibility, students should check their award notification from Financial Aid.
