Introduction to BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences

Placement Year

Students have the option to undertake a placement year, which provides valuable work experience in research or industry. This can enhance employability and provide students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world setting.


Progression

A limited number of students may progress to the BMBS Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or BDS Bachelor of Dental Surgery programs, subject to fulfilling specific entry requirements.


Entry Requirements

  • Typical offer: 104 UCAS points
  • GCSE: 5 subjects at grade C/4 or above
  • A levels: 104 points from 3 A levels, including grade B in Biology/Human Biology and grade C in a relevant second science
  • BTEC RQF National Extended Diploma/QCF Extended Diploma: DMM, depending on the BTEC and units studied
  • Access to HE Diploma: 30 Level 3 credits at distinction, including 15 Level 3 credits in Biology and 15 Level 3 credits in a second relevant science
  • T level: Merit, with a preference for Health or Science pathways
  • International Baccalaureate: 26 points overall, including grade 4 in Higher Level Biology and grade 4 in a second relevant science

  • Optional placement year: 」1,955 (completed in the UK), 」1,465 (completed outside the UK)
