Program Overview

Introduction to the Tamar Engineering Project

The Tamar Engineering Project is designed for ambitious students who wish to pursue a career in engineering or an engineering-related subject. This project offers a combination of mentoring with the University's business partners and financial support to help students succeed as engineers.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Tamar Engineering Project, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

• Low family income: The household income is less than ｣25,000 per year, as assessed by Student Finance.
• Looked-after young person: The applicant is or has been in foster care or a care leaver.
• Carer: The applicant provides unpaid care for a family member or friend due to illness, disability, mental health issues, or addiction.
• Estranged from parents: The applicant has had no contact with both biological or adoptive parents for at least 12 months, with little chance of reconciliation.
• TUNDRA area: The applicant lives in a postcode where fewer people typically go to university.

Benefits of the Tamar Engineering Project

Successful applicants will receive:

• ｣3,000 per annum towards living costs for the duration of the taught element of their degree (usually three years)
• ｣1,500 fee waiver per annum
• One-to-one mentoring from an industry expert
