Year 1 Modules
Core Modules
- Applied Animal Health and Welfare (CORD3000): Explores the principles of general pathology and systemic pathophysiology, evaluating the welfare of affected animals using common ethical frameworks.
- Resource Management and Leadership (CORD3003): Develops evaluative skills and synthesizes existing and emerging management and leadership practices to ensure effective management of animal-based resources.
- Honours Project (CORD321): Provides the opportunity for students to develop and demonstrate research skills through the design, implementation, and evaluation of a research project.
Optional Modules
- Applied Veterinary Pharmacology (CORD3001): Equips students with the skills and knowledge to safely and confidently work with veterinary pharmaceuticals in the treatment, prevention, and management of disease in companion, equine, and farm animals.
- Clinical Animal Behaviour (CORD3002): Explores the underlying principles of animal behaviour using psychological theories and applies learning theory and other psychological concepts to understand and solve animal behavioural problems.
- Animal Therapy (CORD3004): Provides a detailed knowledge and understanding of alternative therapies, evaluating their effectiveness and exploring valid research carried out in other species and humans.
- Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Nursing (CORD3006): Covers the implementation and evaluation of advanced nursing care for emergency surgical and critically ill medical animal patients, including critical care procedures, patient monitoring, and legal and ethical considerations.
