Year 1 Core Modules
- HE Study Skills & Professional Development: Introduction to and development of study skills to ensure academic standards.
- Anatomy and Physiology: This module informs students of how the body functions in sport and exercise conditions by focusing on the physiological aspects of performance.
- Development and Provision of Sport and Physical Activity: This module considers the roles and functions of a range of sports and health organisations; how they interact and implement Government policy.
Year 2 Core Modules
- Introduction to Sports Coaching: Students will apply theoretical principles of coaching to practical situations in a range of sports.
- Introduction to Personal Training: Within this module, students will develop their knowledge and understanding to become competent in planning, delivering, and evaluating exercise and fitness sessions to adults.
- Health and Fitness Promotion: This module develops awareness of the relationship between lifestyle and health.
Year 3 Core Modules
- Management Skills for the Health and Fitness Industry: This module enables students to gain an understanding and experience of the management skills necessary to function effectively within the health and fitness industry.
- Research Methods & Professional Skills: Introduction to a range of methods used to carry out research and how to select and justify one or more methods for a particular topic.
- Psychology for Health and Sports Performance: This module provides opportunities for students to develop an understanding of the increasing role of psychology within sport and physical activity.
Final Year Core Modules
- Physical Activity for Special Populations: This module allows students to consider the needs of particular client groups in the context of sports, physical activity provision, and exercise prescription.
- Physical Activity, Nutrition and Health: Students will consider the importance of physical activity and nutrition when working with client groups in the context of lifestyle enhancement strategies to develop health and wellbeing.
- Advanced Sports Coaching: Students will develop their coaching expertise to apply principles to a higher degree of competence.
