Program Overview
The Economics Department's graduate program enrolls over 60 students from various colleges and universities worldwide. Faculty members are highly accessible, and classes are small, typically consisting of five to 20 students, emphasizing student-faculty interaction. Regularly scheduled seminars and workshops allow visiting speakers, departmental faculty, and senior graduate students to present ongoing research.

Funding and Scholarships
There are numerous funding and scholarship opportunities available. PhD students who are registered and/or certified full-time will receive a scholarship that covers the cost of broad-based fees, excluding international student fees. Master's students are generally self-funded, although funding opportunities occasionally arise.
Accelerated/4+1 Degrees
The university offers accelerated/4+1 degree programs, which allow students to complete their bachelor's degree and a master's degree in just five years.
Program Details
The department offers approximately 10 graduate courses each semester. Students may also enroll in finance courses in the School of Management and in courses in public administration through the College of Community and Public Affairs. The emphasis on applied empirical work prepares students for a wide variety of careers in the academic, governmental, and private sectors, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Assistantship Opportunities
Assistantship opportunities for exceptional PhD students provide additional practical experience in teaching and research. The Economics Department may provide application fee waivers to a select number of qualified PhD candidates.
