Introduction to the One-Year STEM MBA Option

The One-Year (9-month) STEM MBA option is designed for high-performing undergraduate business and accounting majors who graduated from AACSB-accredited schools in the last five years. This program can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis, with part-time schedules extending the program length.

Curriculum

The STEM MBA curriculum is designed to prepare students with the essential tools needed to be effective leaders in today's rapidly changing corporate, non-profit, and public sectors. Students will strengthen their analytical and decision-making skills while collaborating in task-oriented teams. The studies will be individualized, allowing students to choose from a wide range of elective courses, including cross-disciplinary options and customized independent studies, and design interdisciplinary projects aligned with their career goals.

Concentrations

A minimum of four courses (sixteen credit hours) is required to complete a concentration. Concentrations are optional.


Admissions

Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis, but applicants are strongly recommended to apply by the March 1st deadline. Capacity for this program is limited.


Admission Requirements

  • This program option is available exclusively to students who have graduated from, or are in the process of completing, a bachelor's degree in business or accounting from an AACSB-accredited institution.
  • While GMAT and GRE scores are accepted, they are not required for admission to the MBA program.
  • Students admitted into this program typically have an undergraduate GPA of 3.4 or higher. Applicants with significant work experience and/or strong GMAT/GRE scores (while not required) are also considered for admission.
  • Prerequisite coursework in statistics and microeconomics is required. Applicants must have received a grade of B or higher and taken the courses in the last four years.
  • Prerequisite: Excel for Data Analytics Crash Course 1 (introductory) offered through Harpur Edge (or Excel course/CQS311) is required.
  • Applicants must provide:
    • Two letters of recommendations
    • A personal statement
    • A current resume
    • Unofficial transcripts. Final transcripts will be requested upon admission to the program.
  • $75 application fee.

Microsoft Excel Prerequisite

Excel proficiency is expected of all incoming students, including knowledge of tools such as VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, PivotTables, and PivotCharts. Students must successfully complete Excel for Data Analytics Crash Course 1 (introductory) offered through Harpur Edge (or Excel course/CQS311). Alternatively, the Microsoft Excel certificate, Exam MO-211: Microsoft Excel Expert ($100), can be taken.
