Program Overview
Master of Science in Data Analytics
The Master of Science in Data Analytics program at Binghamton University, The State University of New York, is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in data analytics.
Proof of English Proficiency Requirements
International students applying for F or J status must certify their English proficiency by submitting official scores from one of the following tests:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- PTE Academic
- Duolingo English Test
TOEFL Requirements
- Minimum TOEFL score of 80 on the Internet-based test (iBT) or 9 on the TOEFL Essentials test
- TOEFL iBT MyBest and TOEFL Essentials MyBest scores are accepted
- The following TOEFL iBT tests are accepted: TOEFL iBT test (taken at a test center), TOEFL iBT Home Edition, and TOEFL iBT Paper Edition
IELTS Requirements
- Minimum IELTS score of 6.5, with no band below 5.0
- The IELTS Online option and IELTS Skill Retake are also accepted
PTE Academic Requirements
- Minimum PTE Academic score of 53
- PTE Academic Online is also accepted
Duolingo English Test Requirements
- Minimum Duolingo score of 105
Waiver for Proof of English Proficiency Requirement
A waiver for the proof of English proficiency requirement is available to applicants who meet one or more of the following eligibility criteria:
- The applicant is a citizen or permanent resident of a country where English is the official language and the language of instruction
- The applicant is expected to receive (or has received) a bachelor's degree or higher from an institution located in a country where English is the official language and the language of instruction
- The applicant has completed at least two years of full-time study at an accredited higher education institution where English is an official language and the language of instruction
- The applicant is a current Binghamton University student

- Botswana
- Zambia

- Gambia
- Tanzania
- Some Canadian provinces
Submission of Score Reports
All proof of English proficiency test scores should be delivered to the Office of Graduate Admissions electronically from the official examiner. Scores should not be sent directly to the academic department.
Expiration Date of Proof of English Proficiency Exam
The expiration date on the proof of English proficiency exam is the last day in which the official score can be submitted. It is recommended to submit the official score well ahead of the expiration date.
