Program Overview

The Bachelor of Creative Media in Graphic Design is an industry-focused program that integrates innovative design strategy with practical skills for a range of print and digital media contexts. Taught by staff with extensive industry experience, the course provides a strong work-related learning experience that prepares students for a range of print (branding and publication design), digital (web, mobile app), and communication design (user experience and service design) sectors.

Admission Requirements

  • Entry requirements (onshore): As per normal undergraduate admission requirements
  • English language requirements: English competence, with an overall IELTS score of 6.0 and no individual band less than 6.0

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:


  1. Demonstrate the use of design research methodologies toward the creation of innovative print, digital, and communication design solutions
  2. Recognize that Graphic Design plays an important part in the mediation of social and cultural communications and as such affects modes of representations and systems of meaning
  3. Present information, articulating arguments and conclusions, in a variety of modes, to diverse audiences, and for a range of purposes
  4. Communicate through the creative use of graphic design in a variety of modes, to diverse audiences, and for a range of purposes
  5. Research and apply a range of design decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking methodologies for a specific purpose
  6. Research, prototype, and evaluate print artifacts, digital media, and design strategy in relation to specific purposes, audiences, contexts, and underlying technologies
  7. Demonstrate the use of design research methodology toward the creation of innovative print, digital, and communication design solutions
  8. Apply recognized Graphic Design methods and appropriate practical design techniques, tools, and technologies and adapt these techniques when necessary
  9. Adapt a range of techniques to appropriately project manage a graphic design project
  10. Demonstrate and apply the principles, concepts, strategies, and production techniques of print and digital graphic design for a range of real-world and research applications
  11. Respect the thoughts and opinions of others whilst working effectively within a team environment
  12. Recognize that Graphic Design is a discipline that impacts on, and is influenced by, other disciplines in practice
  13. Take personal, professional, and social responsibility by recognizing the required ethical conduct and behavior within the relevant sectors of the Graphic Design industry
  14. Demonstrate a capacity for self-directed learning
  15. Synthesize personal, group, industry convention, and client-based viewpoints towards the successful resolution of graphic design problems

Professional Outcomes

Graduates are eligible to apply for Associate Status with the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) and the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA).
