Program Overview

The Research Methods for Exercise Science program is designed to provide students with advanced clinical expertise and scientific knowledge in exercise science. The program focuses on patient-centred clinical and translational research, aiming to initiate the process of students becoming independent researchers.

Unit Description

The scientist-clinician model of practice requires advanced clinical expertise as well as scientific knowledge and competency. This includes knowledge and competencies across several domains including research methodology, clinical epidemiology, biostatistics, knowledge dissemination. Within this context, the student will develop proficiencies in the conduct of research and reporting of findings.


Learning Outcomes

  • Review and critically appraise the literature in relation to evidence supporting Exercise Science
  • Recommend and critique population-specific strategies and research designs for conducting research in Exercise Science
  • Interpret, and use statistical software to perform common statistical analyses in Exercise Science
