Learning Outcomes

  1. Summarise the acute and chronic physiological (metabolic, cardiorespiratory and neuroendocrine) responses to given exercise training and detraining.
  2. Explain how, and to what extent, endogenous (age, sex, health) and exogenous (nutritional, environmental) modifying factors influence physiological responses to exercise.
  3. Interpret a range of physiological variables and then design and communicate appropriate exercise interventions to modify them.
  4. Utilise a range of techniques for the practical assessment of energy expenditure and physiological capacities.
