Enrolment Rules

Some photography experience is advised. If you have no experience with photography, it is advised that you complete PHO124 prior to attempting this unit.


Learning Outcomes

  1. Combine practical photography skills with an understanding of the major documentary movements to produce a documentary series.
  2. Apply a critical understanding about the ethical and conceptual issues related to the genre.
  3. Produce photographs and apply a digital workflow that is in line with professional industry practice.
  4. Design and develop a visual narrative with a consistent aesthetic within the documentary genre.
  5. Apply key digital storytelling skills to enhance a photo-based narrative.
  6. Explain and justify choice of subject matter and style with reference to key documentary photographers as well as historical and contemporary developments in the genre.
  7. Communicate effectively through written and oral modes to a range of audiences.

Additional Information

Basic photography skills are required to complete this unit. Students who have no experience in photography are strongly advised to complete PHO124 Photography I prior to attempting this unit.
