Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this unit, students will be able to:


  1. Define and explain various cognitive processes and how they impact human behavior, and apply that understanding to explain why people behave and believe the things they do.
  2. Describe the impact of cognition, including how it impacts society and daily functioning, and understand how people make decisions and process incoming information to function effectively in day-to-day life.
  3. Participate in various studies and effectively discuss the research design, research question, and results for each study, in both verbal and written form.
  4. Identify, describe, and critique the literature and evidence associated with cognitive studies in an objective report.
  5. Effectively communicate their understanding of cognition and the cognitive processes underlying human behavior, in both verbal and written form.
