Enrolment Rules

Students should have some prior knowledge of chemistry at Year 10 level (third year in WA secondary schools) or equivalent and a reasonable grounding in basic mathematics.


  • Students with a final scaled score of 50% or higher in Chemistry ATAR (WACE Chemistry 3A/3B) within the past three years may be excluded from the unit.
  • Students who have successfully completed CHE144 Foundations of Chemistry/PEC144 Chemical Principles may not enrol in this unit for credit.
  • Students who have successfully completed PEC140 Introduction to Chemistry or OSCI18 Introduction to/Fundamentals of Chemistry cannot enrol for credit in this unit.
