Learning Outcomes

  1. Molecular techniques including DNA cloning, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), DNA sequencing, DNA restriction and hybridization methods;
  2. DNA replication, recombination, mutation and repair;
  3. Gene expression from DNA to RNA to protein, including how this is regulated;
  4. Molecular mechanisms of signal transduction;
  5. The ability to appropriately design experiments;
  6. The ability to effectively interpret and communicate experimental data;
  7. Bioinformatics skills, particularly involving the exploitation of data from molecular databases;
