Virtual Junior Curators: Marine Mammals

The Virtual Junior Curators program focuses on marine mammals, exploring how animals such as whales, walruses, and sea otters are adapted to marine life, and the importance of marine mammals in Alaska cultures.


At Home Activities

Several at-home activities are available, including:


  • Guess Who? Trivia Game: A game to explore fun facts about Alaska marine mammals.
  • Blubber Gloves Experiment: An experiment to explore how blubber keeps animals warm in cold water.
  • Kelp Forest Collage: An activity to discover the role of sea otters in keeping the kelp forest healthy.
  • Make a Walrus Mask: An art activity to explore walruses in art and culture.
  • Create a Model Umiak: An activity to discover some ways people use marine mammals by making a model boat.
