Program Overview


Introduction to Mining Engineering

The Mining Engineering program is one of only 13 ABET accredited mining programs in the United States, and the only one of its kind in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. This hard-rock focused program prepares mining engineers for working in the Arctic, with hands-on learning and research opportunities, as well as access to state-of-the-art labs and mineral processing facilities.

The program offers a rock-solid education, with expertise in Arctic-related issues and unique placer mining needs. Students have the opportunity to engage in internships, networking, and research, both in Alaska and out of state.
