Rural Heavy Equipment Operating Camps

The Rural Heavy Equipment Operating Camps are designed for individuals seeking employment in the heavy equipment or support industry in rural and remote areas. This training takes place at the MAPTS Training Center, located in Delta Junction, Alaska, preparing students for careers in rural infrastructure development and maintenance.


Program Overview

The Rural Heavy Equipment Operator Training Camp is a 140-hour program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they will need for a successful entry-level career in the mining or construction industries. Over 14 days of intensive, hands-on training, students will gain real-world experience operating heavy equipment, all while learning from experienced instructors who are dedicated to their success.


Curriculum

The curriculum is thorough and safety-focused, ensuring that students graduate as highly competent, safety-conscious operators. By the end of the camp, students will be fully prepared to step into the workforce with the skills employers are looking for. The program covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to Ground Control Operations
  • Articulated Haul Truck Operations
