Program Description
The occupational endorsement in homeland security provides basic academic preparation and critical thinking skills necessary for mid-level careers in the TSA agency or homeland security field. It also serves as a stepping-stone into homeland security and emergency management-related degree programs, such as the HSEM bachelor's degree at the School of Management.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old by the first day of the semester in which they are admitted.
- Complete the general university requirements.
- Complete the occupational endorsement requirements.
Program Requirements
The program requires completion of the following courses:
- HSEM F120--Introduction to Emergency Management (3 credits) or HSEM F121--Introduction to Homeland Security (3 credits)
- At least 9 credits from the following electives:
- HSEM F223--Terrorism: A Global Threat (3 credits)
- HSEM F225--Intelligence Analysis and Security Management (3 credits)
- HSEM F227--Transportation and Border Security (3 credits)
- HSEM F231--Threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction (3 credits)
- HSEM F233--Critical Infrastructure Protection (3 credits)
Minimum Credits Required
The minimum credits required for the occupational endorsement in homeland security is 12 credits.
