Program Overview

The Municipal Fire Control program is a certificate program that requires completion of general university requirements and specific certificate requirements.

Program Requirements

To complete the certificate, students must take the following courses:

• EMS 103 -- Emergency Trauma Training First Responder (3 credits) or EMS 119 -- EMT: Emergency Medical Technician I (6 credits)
• FIRE 101 -- Introduction to Fire Science (3 credits)
• FIRE 105 -- Fundamentals of Fire Prevention (3 credits)
• FIRE 107 -- Municipal Fire Tactics and Strategy (3 credits)
• FIRE 111 -- Supervision and Management for Emergency Services (3 credits)
• FIRE 117 -- Rescue Practices I (3 credits)
• FIRE 202 -- Fire Hydraulics (3 credits)
• FIRE 203 -- Hazardous Materials I (3 credits)
  • Major electives (6 credits)

Credit Requirements

The minimum credits required to complete the program range from 30 to 33 credits.
