  • 62 interns have been placed with NASA centers and Alaska Industry partners between 2015 and 2021.
  • 92% of graduates are now employed in STEM fields or pursuing advanced STEM degrees.

Funding Opportunities

The program offers funding opportunities for students, including:

  • Graduate and undergraduate funding
  • Higher education funding
  • Pre-college funding

Student Testimonials

Students have praised the program for its support, with one student stating that the Alaska Space Grant has helped them secure funding for a NASA internship. Another student credited the program with allowing them to compete in the 2017 Design Build Fly competition, which was one of the best learning experiences they gained at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Research Areas

The program supports research in various areas, including:

  • Microseismicity at Taku Glacier: A comprehensive monitoring project that documented the quickly evolving processes on the formerly advancing glacier.
  • Recent Changes in Shrub Distribution and Abundance in the Chugach Mountains, Alaska: A study on the increase in shrub biomass, abundance, and distribution in Arctic and alpine tundra, collectively termed "shrub expansion".

Sponsorship

The program is sponsored by the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program.
