Overview of the Teaching Staff Training Program (ųYP)

The Teaching Staff Training Program (ųYP) was designed to contribute to the training of teaching staff needed in Turkey. This program was developed by combining the 33rd and 35th articles of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, which covers doctoral education both abroad and in Turkey. The program aimed to produce science and technology in universities while also training teaching staff.

Program Details

The ųYP operated as a doctoral program both in Turkey and abroad. One of the most important features of this model was that the graduated teaching staff member would return to their own university with a research project prepared with their thesis advisor and could continue joint research there.

Program Operation and Funding

The operation of the ųYP was based on framework protocols signed between universities. It was carried out by joint commissions and juries formed by the teaching staff and administrators of these universities. The program was funded by the Ministry of Development (formerly the State Planning Organization) and the Higher Education Council (YųK).

Program Objective

The primary objective of the ųYP was to train qualified teaching staff to meet Turkey's need for teaching staff and to enable other universities to benefit from the expertise of a university strong in a particular field through cooperation.

Program Process and Completion

The program was completed between certain years, with the Ministry of Development's funding and the support of YųK administrators.
