Erasmus+ KA171 Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignments
Program Overview
Introduction to Erasmus+ KA171 Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignments
The Erasmus+ KA171 Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignments is a mobility activity that enables academic staff from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to engage in teaching and joint academic/educational activities at partner HEIs in program countries worldwide. This program encompasses a variety of activities, including lecturing, hands-on teaching, seminars, and workshops.
Program Countries and Partner Universities
Erasmus+ extends beyond Europe, facilitating mobility between 33 Program Countries and 84 Partner Countries. Program Countries are those fully participating in the Erasmus+ program, with Turkey being one of them. Partner Countries cover the rest of the world outside the European Union. A bilateral Erasmus+ agreement between the home institution (e.g., METU) and the partner institution is required for teaching mobility. The list of eligible countries and partner universities is updated annually based on the Program budget allocated by the Turkish National Agency.
Application Period and Procedure
The application period for Erasmus+ KA171 Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignments typically runs from September 1 to October 15. The International Cooperations Office (ICO) announces application deadlines and procedures at least 20 days prior to the application period. Application announcements are sent to the International Offices of related partner universities via email. The partner universities organize a fair, transparent, and documented selection process and submit the nominations and applications of the teaching staff to the ICO.

Duration of the Activities
The duration of teaching mobility ranges from 5 days to 2 months, excluding travel time. However, the maximum duration may vary depending on the Program budget allocated to the home institution. For one-week participation, the teaching activity must comprise a minimum of 8 hours of teaching per week. For longer activities, the minimum teaching hours are calculated proportionally.
Erasmus+ KA171 Program Grants for Staff Mobility
Daily grant amounts are as follows:
- 140 for the first 14 days
- 98 for days exceeding 14
A travel grant is also provided, calculated using a distance calculator. The grant amount depends on the distance between the staff's residence and the activity location.
Grant Calculation Examples
- For a 5-day visit from Georgia: Daily Grant (140 * 5) + Travel Grant (275 ) = 980 + 275 = 1255
- For a 15-day visit from Singapore: Daily Grant (140 * 14 + 98 * 1) + Travel Grant (1100 ) = 2254 + 1100 = 3354
Additional Grant for Disabled Participants
Disabled participants may receive additional grants to meet their specific needs. The home institution's ICO must request these grants from the Turkish National Agency.
Erasmus Staff Mobility without Grant (Zero-Grant)
Staff members can participate in the program without a grant. They must submit an application, which will be evaluated along with other applications. Zero-grant participants must fulfill the program's rights and obligations.
