Introduction to GSICS

GSICS is a prestigious program that offers a unique educational experience. The program is designed to provide students with a sense of humanity and creativity, as well as international awareness.


Curriculum Policy

The curriculum policy of GSICS is designed to impress upon students a sense of humanity and creativity, and to acquire deep knowledge and advanced research skills. The policy includes:


  1. Research Report I, Research Report II, and Research Report III to impress upon students a sense of humanity and creativity.
  2. International Organization Management, international field work, and internship courses to impress upon students a sense of international awareness.
  3. Advanced research courses for Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy in Economics, Doctor of Laws, and Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science to acquire deep knowledge and advanced research skills.
  4. Special courses taught in English to foster a deeper sense of international awareness.

Distinctive Features

The English-taught Doctoral Course was established in 1999 to enable international students to continue their studies in English and to acquire a Doctoral Degree. This is a highly competitive program, and only candidates with excellent academic credentials and outstanding potential will be accepted.


Eligibility for Admission

Only applicants who are not of Japanese nationality and can obtain an appropriate visa for enrollment may apply to this program.


Requirements to Complete the Doctoral Course

To complete the Doctoral Course, students must:


  • Enroll in the Doctoral Course for at least 3 years.
  • Acquire 8 credits of "Advanced Research".
  • Successfully complete "Research Presentation I", "Research Presentation II", "Research Presentation III".
  • Pass the Doctoral Qualifying Examination.
  • Pass the review of the Doctoral Dissertation, and the final examination.
