Program Overview
International Business
The International Business program is an online course that provides students with an understanding of the main concepts of international business. The program is designed to help students develop an overview of the main actors, economic and political forces of international business.
Objectives
The program has two main objectives:
- Knowledge related objectives:
- Define the main concepts of international business
- Understand the complexity and dynamic nature of international business
- Develop an overview about main actors, economic and political forces of international business
- Understand the underlying rationales of the impact of international environment on business activities
- Identify and classify the major risks and opportunities of global marketplace
- Skills related objectives:
- Interpret the trends and realities of global business environment in relation to multicultural business planning
- Compare international markets according to their risks and opportunities for doing business
- Generic competences: leadership, internationality
Content
The program covers the following topics:
- Key concepts of international business theory and practice
- Key actors of international business and principles of their operations
- Major elements of political, legal, economic environments, related risks
- Cultural dimensions and risks in the light of international business communication and relationship-building
- Essentials of business ethics in the international context
- Essentials of international trade, FDI and regional economic integration
- Key features of emerging markets' business environment and local actors
Study Methods
The program is an independent online study where students familiarize themselves with the learning material and submit learning assignments and/or participate in course exams. The study unit starts in period 4 (16.3. - 29.5.2026).

The program uses the following study materials:
- Cavusgil, S.T., Knight, G. & Riesenberger, J.: International Business. The New Realities. Fifth Edition or newer. Pearson Prentice Hall. (Also e-book available in the UEF library)

Evaluation
The program uses a scale on grade 0-5 for evaluation.
Prerequisites
The program requires Introduction to Management, Introduction to Marketing or equivalent competence.
Teaching Language
The program is taught in English.
Additional Information
The study fee is 20 euros per ECTS credit for individual study units, and 15 euros per credit for study modules. The study fee is paid at registration. The program belongs to the Basic Studies, Management and Leadership, the Basic Studies, Marketing, the Basic studies, Management and Marketing, and the Intermediate Studies, Business Administration.
