Program Overview
Automation and Manufacturing Technology - Associate of Applied Science
The Automation and Manufacturing Technology program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the field of automation and manufacturing. This program requires a total of 61 credits and includes both general education and technical requirements.
General Education Requirements
- Choose one course from four of the following six content areas for a total of 12-14 credits:
- Area I: Communications - English Composition Level 1
- ENGL 1110G: Composition I (4 credits)
- Area II: Mathematics
- MATH 1250G: Trigonometry & Pre-Calculus (4 credits)
- Area III: Laboratory Sciences - Choose one from the following:
- PHYS 1230G & PHYS 1230L: Algebra-Based Physics I and Algebra-Based Physics I Lab (4 credits)
- PHYS 1310G & PHYS 1310L: Calculus-Based Physics I and Calculus-Based Physics I Lab (4 credits)
- Area IV: Social/Behavioral Sciences - Choose one from the following:
- PSYC 1110G: Introduction to Psychology (3 credits)
- SOCI 1110G: Introduction to Sociology (3 credits)
- Area I: Communications - English Composition Level 1
- General Education Elective - Area I: Communications - English Composition Level 2
- ENGL 2210G: Professional and Technical Communication Honors (3 credits)

Requirements
Students must earn a final grade of C- or better in all required Technical Requirements and achieve a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.0. A grade of C- or better is required in ENGL 1110G Composition I and designated Mathematics courses. Developmental coursework will not count towards the degree requirements and/or elective credits, but may be needed in order to take the necessary English and Mathematics coursework.
