Elementary Education (Science K-8) - Bachelor of Science in Education

The Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Elementary Education (Science K-8) is a degree program designed to prepare students for a career in teaching science to elementary school students. The program embeds the Science Teaching Field/Concentration and the Bilingual/TESL endorsements.


General Education Requirements

  • English Composition - Level 1: ENGL 1110G - Composition I (4 credits)
  • English Composition - Level 2: ENGL 2221G - Writing in the Humanities and Social Science (3 credits) or ENGL 2130G - Advanced Composition
  • Oral Communication: Choose one from COMM 1115G - Introduction to Communication, COMM 1130G - Public Speaking, or HNRS 2175G - Introduction to Communication Honors (3 credits)
  • Mathematics: MATH 2134G - Fundamentals of Elementary Math II (3 credits)
  • Laboratory Sciences and Social/Behavioral Sciences: Choose two different subjects with labs for a total of 8 credits
  • Humanities: HIST 1130G - World History I (3 credits) or HIST 1140G - World History II
  • Creative and Fine Arts: Choose one from ARTH 1115G - Orientation in Art, DANC 1110G - Dance Appreciation, MUSC 1110G - Music Appreciation: Jazz, MUSC 1130G - Music Appreciation: Western Music, or THEA 1110G - Introduction to Theatre (3 credits)
